  • Michael Retta tennis

    Michael Retta || Founder & Director of Tennis

    Virginia native and former Vanderbilt tennis player, Michael Retta has been coaching tennis in the DMV area for over 10 years.

    Prior to founding House of Tennis, Michael Retta joined the coaching staff at Georgetown University. He served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Men's & Women's tennis teams in 2021.

    Michael served as the Assistant Director of Tennis at Hidden Creek Country Club from 2018-2021. In 2017, Retta spent a year coaching and traveling on the ATP Challenger Tour with All-American college tennis player Mitchell Frank (former ITA Tennis No. 1 & NCAA champion). Michael has developed players of all ages, and is passionate about growing the sport.

    Michael Retta finished his collegiate career at Vanderbilt with his team ranked as high as No. 11 in the ITA rankings. His recruiting class was voted #1 in the country (first ever in program history) by tennisrecruiting.net.

    Michael is USPTA/PTR Certified. He is also a USTA NET Generation Coach, and SAFEPLAY approved.

    Edgeri Hudlin || Director of Beginner Tennis

    Edgeri Hudlin was born in San Mateo California and grew up in Northern Virignia. He received his Bachelors Degree from Duke University and matriculated to George Mason University where he is pursuing a Masters Degree in Education.

    At the age of 8 he realized a passion for tennis. Since then he continues to train and compete at the 4.5 level. Most notably, in the summer of 2020, Edgeri finished in the top 10 of the Men’s Northern Virginia NTRP 4.5 tennis ladder. For over 2 years, he has served as a trainer for competitive juniors and recreational players of skill levels varying from beginner to intermediate.

    As a Fairfax County Public Schools teacher by profession, Edgeri places great emphasis on encouraging students to realize their full potential through maximum effort. His experiences in the classroom inform his instruction on the court as he understands the mind of a learner and how to nurture it to promote growth.
